World Book

World Book Online-Encyclopedia/Research Tools FREE to WP Students

West Platte students of all ages can access a host of web-based research tools whether at home or at school, thanks to an agreement between the school district and World Book. 

Elementary age students can access World Book Kids, the first site designed for their age group, which features thousands of easy-reading articles, engaging images and illustrations, exciting activities and teacher resources.

The majority of older students will find the World Book Online Reference Center to be a great tool.  Included are the 17,000+ articles of the World Book Encyclopedia, plus another 25,000+ online-only articles, an extensive dictionary, maps, correlations to state teaching standards, and tons of audios, videos and animations.

Older students will also find that having access to World Book’s Research Libraries can be a huge help.  Included is access to 1.35 million pages of original source documents, as well as e-book versions of classic literature.

Students can log on directly to World Book Online from any computer on the school’s network, and can even do so at home by using th password weston and the user name wpjays.  To find out more, go to www.worldbookonline.com.
